Music, Movies, and More

Music
If a picture says a thousand words, think of what all the album art in your collection might say. With Cover Flow on iPod touch, flick through your music to find the album you want to hear. When you do, just tap the cover to flip it over and display a track list. Another tap starts the music. Even view the lyrics while you're listening to the track.

Video
The 3.5-inch display gives you video like you've never seen on a portable device. Watch your favorite movie or rental from the iTunes Store. Catch up on TV shows anywhere. Enjoy video podcasts. Play music videos. All using multi-touch technology. With a tap, bring up onscreen controls to play/pause and view by chapter. Turn your iPod touch to switch between widescreen or full screen.

Photos

Or perform some sleight of hand by opening two fingers to zoom in. You can even play slideshows, complete with music and transitions. Set any photo as your wallpaper to personalize your iPod touch . . . with a touch.

iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store
With iPod touch, discover new music anywhere. Its built-in wireless capability gives you access to the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, where you can buy songs with a tap. Even redeem your iTunes gift cards and gift certificates. All from anywhere you happen to be.

Starbucks Music
You walk into a Starbucks. Order your latte. While you wait, you hear a song wafting from the loudspeakers. You love it. So you get out your iPod touch and buy it over Wi-Fi. Just like that. The iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch tells you what's playing in select Starbucks and lets you buy it along with other featured Starbucks content. So you can sip, shop, and listen.

Home Screen
Make the iPod touch Home screen your own. Change what's in the Dock. Rearrange the icons. And make room for even more. You can add up to eight Home screen pages and fill them with Web Clips.

Internet

Zoom in and out by tapping the multi-touch display. Switch between portrait or landscape view, depending on how you hold your iPod touch. Sync your bookmarks. Better yet, add them to your Home screen. iPod touch can automatically create a Web Clip on your Home screen from any of your favorite websites. So just one tap takes you directly there.

YouTube
Got a bit of a YouTube addiction? iPod touch feeds it from anywhere with a special YouTube player built right in. Watch featured videos, check out the most viewed, search for something specific, then bookmark your favorites for future reference. It's all the fun of YouTube--pocket-size.

Mail
iPod touch is the first iPod with Mail. And it's the best email you've ever seen on a handheld device. This mail application lets you view rich HTML email with graphics and photos displayed inline, as well as PDF, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel attachments.

Maps
Get directions and check traffic with Google Maps. Even find yourself, wherever you are. Using some local Wi-Fi networks (if Wi-Fi is turned on), iPod touch finds your approximate location and gives directions from there. Mark specific locations, find the best route between them, and search for points of interest along the way. With a hybrid map and satellite view, you can see major street names on top of satellite images.

Widgets
Widgets are small, incredibly handy applications you can use every day. Three of the most useful widgets now live front and center on your Home screen:

Weather
Get a five-day weather forecast, including highs and lows, for cities around the world. Save your favorite locations so you can check the weather anytime.
Notes
Take notes, make a to-do list, or jot down a reminder using the easy-to-use touch keypad. Then save or email them.
Stocks
Check your stocks and track the market over one day, one week, one month, three months, six months, one year, or two years.

High Technology
iPod touch features the same revolutionary interface as iPhone, the most advanced software ever engineered, and state-of-the-art technology. With the multi-touch display, you can control everything using only your fingers. If you rotate your iPod touch from portrait to landscape, the accelerometer automatically changes the way the content is displayed. And with wireless technology, you can connect to the Internet from any Wi-Fi network, anywhere you are.

Multi-touch
iPod touch features the same revolutionary interface as iPhone. Built to take full advantage of the large 3.5-inch display, the multi-touch interface lets you control everything using only your fingers. So you can glide through albums with Cover Flow, flick through photos and enlarge them with a pinch, or zoom in and out on a section of a web page. And iPod touch features a touchscreen QWERTY keyboard perfect for browsing the web in Safari, getting directions on a map, searching for videos on YouTube, finding music on the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, or adding new contacts.

Ambient Light Sensor
The iPod touch display has an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts brightness to suit the ambient light in your surroundings. The result? A better experience for you and battery-saving efficiency for iPod touch.

Wireless
Connect to the Internet anywhere there's a Wi-Fi network. Send email from a coffee shop. Surf the web at the airport. Browse, buy, and download music from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store at select Starbucks locations or other wireless hot spots in your area. iPod touch finds wireless networks and connects you to the Internet.

Accelerometer
An accelerometer detects when you rotate iPod touch from portrait to landscape, then automatically changes the contents of the display, so you immediately see the entire width of a web page, your music in Cover Flow, or a photo in its proper aspect ratio.

What Customers Say About Apple iPod touch 16 GB (1st Generation):

I still feel that they are unwilling to allow other people to help with or share their products, therefore, making it very inconvenient to own and purchase their products. Then it stopped working while still under warranty. and paid $200 to get it serviced. In order to have it serviced, I had to make an appt.

My husband bought an iphone for me. I'm boycotting all apple products from this point on. Not worth the money and effort. It never worked completely right from the beginning.

in a city 100 miles away, and waited there past my appointment time to get it serviced. They apparently never learned from their past misktakes. Apple customer service tried to help, but the suggestions they made were helpful only temporarily. I live in a rural area.

I was refunded my money but why would you sell something that you do not have. I ordered this item and placed a rush on it. I've purchased from Amazon and from third parties before and this was my first such experience. The 16G ipod touch is GREAT but bad experience with this seller. I was disappointed. I then emailed the seller asking when my product would be delivered. It was then that I was emailed and told the item was sold out.

The price was a big detractor but I decided to risk it. The touch is very reliable both in terms of physical sturdiness and software, and it syncs up with itunes very easily, making it easy even for computer illiterate people. I need a new ipod badly, so I'm waiting until September for the new classics to come out and I'll get the biggest one they've got. My first mp3 player was a silver ipod mini, once it started to die I finally decided it was time to upgrade. The touch is just so awesome though, that I would probably fork over the extra cash to get one if they came out with a model that met my space demands. If you don't mind the limited amount of space the touch is great. You even get a few already installed like Safari, Calendar, Mail, Contacts, YouTube, Stocks, Weather, Clock, Calculator, Maps, and Notes.Another great thing about the touch is ease of use. It may be a little pricey for what you get but I think it's worth it overall.

This compliments the smooth touch interface with the brightly lit screen that makes it easy and even a little fun to navigate. Since then my musical taste has greatly expanded and I'm now sitting on roughly 98 gigs of music. Boy was I wrong. I much prefer it to the old scroll wheel design. At the time that I originally purchased this I only had about 6 gigs of music and thought I would never need more that 16 gigs of space.

I went with the ipod touch. The interface also makes it very simple and straightforward to use.My only real complaint is the lack of space. There's games, books, taxes, and more. I've used it for over a year now and overall I'm pretty pleased with my purchase. The touch is very slim and quite good looking if you ask me. I's also got this new thing called apps, which are basically mini programs that you can download and use for various purposes.

Great item for this 64yr old grand dad. Item received noted as "mint"; only the cardboard box was not as new, was fully functional. As hard as i try, it is hard to fill up to capacity with music.

I would definately buy Apple Accessories like this again though, I was thinking about getting the 2nd gen because I sold my first gen. The touch screen is amazing and this is the device that made me fall in love with Apple. I would suggest getting the 2nd generation iTouch they have now because it has an external speaker as well as headphones. Maybe when they come down in price a little. The 2nd generation is also smaller and a little better software updated I believe. I used this mainly as a source to watch portable videos, music, and as an alarm clock and calender and such.

If your looking for a PDA, music, video, calender and such, look no further. Their macbooks are nice, but the performance is not up to par on how much they cost. The amount of applications that you can put on is vast and a lot of them are free which are cool. I am just reviewing this one because this is the one I bought when I had it. Anyways, if you want a great mp3 player, look no further this is the best product you will find, it's simply amazing. I would think 8gb was enough for me because I had about 3 full movies and about 20 mp3 albums on mine and it still didn't touch the storage space.

The first gen you can only use headphones to listen to sound.
